Stop codes
Every stop, station and interchange has a unique five-digit identification code. These stop codes help us give you specific information about a particular stop or station, such as arrival and departure times, or anything impacting access to it.
Bus numbers
Bus numbers are based on the six areas our contracted service providers cover.
- Outer north is mostly 400s
- Outer south is 600s and 700s
- Outer north-east and O-Bahn is mostly 500s
- Hills is 800s
- East-west is mostly 100s
- North-south is mostly 200s
Buses with letters
Letters before the number may include:
- T – a transit link bus that only stops at defined stops on its route
- N – an after midnight service that starts on Saturday night and operates into Sunday morning
- G, M, J, H or other letters – buses that travel across the metropolitan area via the Adelaide CBD, except for J7 and J8, which stay in the western suburbs.
Letters after the number may include:
- X – an express bus that does not pick up or drop off passengers for a section of its route
- F – a bus with limited pick up and drop off once they reach a defined stop on their route
- when travelling into the city, they will drop off on-board passengers as normal but will not pick up any more passengers once they leave the defined stop
- when travelling away from the city, they will pick up passengers as normal but will not drop off any passengers until they get to the defined stop
- C or other letter – a bus that is doing a shorter version of its route, e.g. M44 starts at Marion and finishes at Golden Grove, whereas M44C starts at Marion and travels the same route but finishes in the Adelaide CBD.
Check the bus timetables before you travel or ask the driver before you get on the bus if you are unsure.
Colours
Adelaide Metro’s main colour is yellow.
The main colour for buses is green, trains is blue and trams is red. This helps customers quickly see which timetable type they need.
Each type of transport then uses a range of colours to help people quickly find their route, for example:
- dark blue for Outer Harbor train lines
- dark red for Gawler train lines
- golden yellow for the Botanic Gardens tram
- green for Adelaide Hills buses
- dark orange for outer north-east buses.
