Privacy
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) and Adelaide Metro respect your privacy and the security of any information we collect from you. We must follow the Information Privacy Principle Instruction (PC012) when dealing with your personal information.
metroCARD privacy
You do not have to provide your personal information when buying or using a metroCARD.
If you choose to register your metroCARD, we need to record some of your personal information that relates to how you can use your card. The information is stored securely and can only be accessed by appropriately authorised staff when they are assisting you, or if required by law. We will not use it for any other reason without your consent. You can update your information online, in person at the InfoCentre at the Adelaide Railway Station, or by calling the InfoLine. Our staff will do an ID check to make sure only you can access your personal information.
You can arrange for someone else to have secure access to your account if you need it.
You cannot access someone else’s information without their consent. If you are a parent or guardian of a child, you will need to provide proof of your identity and reasonable proof of your relationship to the child before you can access their information.
Your metroCARD does not collect or store your personal information. When you validate your metroCARD, it only stores information:
- for inspectors to check it has been validated
- that lets the onboard validators know if you can transfer between vehicles
- showing evidence of the cost of your trips taken, in case you need to resolve a fare dispute.
This validation information also helps Adelaide Metro understand demand for public transport service and to monitor service performance.
